Gary L. Shirker Sr., A dealer, worked at Ephrata Cloister, enjoyed fishing, making people laugh

Gary L. Shirker Sr., of Lititz, and formerly of Ephrata, passed away at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 5, 2015.

He was the husband of Rose M. (Aponte) Shirker, noting 50 years on April 3. Gary was the son of the late Stanley I. and Helen I. (Rice) Shirker.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lancaster. Gary was employed by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission at the Ephrata Cloister until 1989 and was an avid antiques dealer and collector. Gary was a devoted Philadelphia Sports Fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and making people laugh.

In addition to his wife: Rose; Gary is survived by a daughter: Sherry A. Angstadt of Harrisburg; two sons: Gary L. Shirker Jr. of Ephrata; and Steven R. Shirker of Denver; one granddaughter: Gabrielle E. Angstadt of Harrisburg; two sisters: Fay Shirker of Ephrata; and Karen, wife of Michael Whitaker, of Strasburg; and one brother: Galen Shirker of Ephrata.

A funeral service will be held June 10 at 11 a.m. at Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Rev. Roger Hornberger will officiate. Interment will follow at Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery, Ephrata Township.
