Frederick W. Urban, 90, WWII vet, PSP trooper, attended St. Richard Catholic Church

Frederick W. Urban, 90, of Manheim passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim.

Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Andrew and Amelia Schonder Urban. Fred was the husband of the late Anna Mae Ginder Urban, who passed away in 2000.

Fred was a member of the Pennsylvania State Police, retiring in 1977 after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Manheim, Knights of Columbus, Lebanon and the VFW No. 23, Lebanon. Fred proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Quartermaster Third Class during World War II.

Surviving is a daughter: Mary M., wife of David J. Ferruzza, of Mount Joy; and three grandchildren: Kathryn, Matthew, and Timothy, all at home.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Urban; and a sister: Marie Miller.

Services were held July 11 at St. Richard Catholic Church, Manheim. Interment with military honors followed at Longenecker’s Brethren Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to St. Richard Catholic Church, 110 N. Oak St., Manheim, PA 17545.
