Frederick A. Amendola, 68, worked at R.R. Donnelley, gifted guitarist and mentor, transcription publisher

Frederick (Fred) A. Amendola, 68, of Lititz, passed away peacefully after a long struggle with heart disease on Sept. 6, 2017, in Rehoboth Beach, Del.

He was born May 31, 1949, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., a son of the late Alphonse and Evelyn (Ripple) Amendola.

Fred graduated from Bishop Duffy in Niagara Falls, N.Y., Class of 1967. He attended the University of Buffalo, where he received his bachelor’s degree in engineering. He most recently worked as a project manager at R.R. Donnelley in Lancaster for 19 years.

Fred was known for being a talented musician on his guitar and pedal steel guitar, having performed in western New York state, Nashville, Virginia, and all over the Lancaster area. Fred enjoyed mentoring many musicians, as well as publishing transcriptions for well-known musicians.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 39 years: Lynn (Rannalli) Amendola of Lititz; his daughter: Sarah Amendola of Martinsburg, W.Va.; his sister: Christine (Amendola) Ingram of Somerset, N.J.; his cousins: John Amendola and wife Judy of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Barbara Holka; and other family members of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Hazleton.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1413 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, N.Y. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Niagara Falls.
