Evelyn Violet Bires, Albright’s Grocery retiree, attended Zion Lutheran, enjoyed deep sea fishing

Evelyn Violet Bires, formerly of Sporting Hill and the Danner Home, Manheim, died Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Cedar Haven Healthcare Center, Lebanon, where she was a resident for the past two years.

She was the widow of the late George Bires. Born in Lebanon she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Bessie (Wenrich) Hess Sr.

Evelyn worked at the former Albright’s Grocery Store for many years and eventfully retired from there. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim. She enjoyed traveling to Wildwood, N.J., for vacations and deep sea fishing. She also enjoyed her day trips and shopping excursions with her sisters and niece.

Evelyn will always be remembered being seen with her twin sister, Violet Evelyn Schaeffer, and was the last living of 13 brothers and sisters. Surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the Buch Funeral Home, Manheim, on March 29. Interment was in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery.
