Evelyn F. Carter, 77, Esbenshade’s Garden Center employee, mother of two

Evelyn F. Carter, 77, of Newmanstown, passed away surrounded by her loving family Friday, April 15, 2016, at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz.

She was the wife of the late George R. Carter who passed away Feb. 14, 2011. Evelyn was born in Clay, daughter of the late David H. and Carrie E. (Hutchinson) Haldeman.

She had worked at the former W.W. Moyer Company in Ephrata, the former Hestico Dress Factory in Hummelstown, and Esbenshade’s Garden Center in Lititz. Evelyn will be lovingly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons: Michael Carter (Lisa) of Lititz; and Paul Carter (Cindy) of Myerstown; two grandchildren: Austin M. Carter of Lititz, and Jaime L. Carter of Myerstown; four sisters: Martha Kleinfelter of Manheim; Audrey A. Noll (Roger) of Reamstown, Judy M. Vollertsen (Lewis) of Stevens, and Patricia L. Kegereis (Roger) of Potter County; and one brother: David L. Haldeman (Elaine) of Ephrata.

In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by two sisters: Nancy A. Haldeman and Phyllis J. McGallicher; and three brothers: John C., Paul D., and Larry E. Haldeman.

Services were held April 19 from Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals, Ephrata, with the Rev. Timothy L. Craven officiating. She was interred in Mellinger’s Cemetery, Schoeneck.
