Eugenia H. Caldwell, 88, formerly of Manheim, died Monday morning, August 1, 2011 at Conestoga View, Lancaster.

Born September 9, 1922 in Newark, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Mary Jackew Hladky. She was the wife of the late William N. Caldwell who died in 1967.

Eugenia was known by many and loved by all. She is survived by her sons: Steve, husband of Jeanette Caldwell; Bill, husband of Geogjean Caldwell; and Ted Caldwell; a grandson, Brian Caldwell; four great- grandchildren; and a brother: Walter Hladky.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Roger Caldwell, in 2010; and a sister: Olga Foley.

Our memories will carry us through the darkness. Her life’s journey took her from the great Depression era in Newark, N.J., to Newport, R.I.; to Palm Beach, Fla.; and many other places where she worked for many of America’s aristocratic families.
