Ethel V. ‘Peg’ Bear, 95, Lititz Wesleyan member, enjoyed spending time with family

Ethel V. “Peg” Bear, 95, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Cedar Haven Nursing Home.

Born in Lititz, and formerly of 43 E. Market St., she was the widow of Robert Bear who passed away in 1980 and the daughter of the late Milton and Susan Miley Weidman.

Ethel worked with her husband for many years at the former Hopeland Manufacturing Factory in garment cutting and layout. She was dedicated to her faith and was a long time member of Lititz Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed trips with her friends, playing cards, pinochle, listening to WDAC radio, and most of all, spending time with her family and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two grandsons: Steven R., husband of Andrea M. Bear, Lititz; and Gregory J. Bear, Sylmar, Calif.; great granddaughters: Ashley D., wife of David Hartman, Lititz; Sierra N. Bear, Lebanon; and Emily T. Bear, State College; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son: Devoe Bear; and daughter-in-law: Janet M. Bear; as well as 14 siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Peg’s life celebration service from the Spacht Funeral Home, 127 S. Broad St., Lititz, on Friday, March 6, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dan Cloyd officiating. Interment will be at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at Spacht’s on Friday one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 6051, Albert Lea, MN 56007, in memory of her son.
