Ethel Alberta Murr, 94, registered nurse, Trinity E.C. member, enjoyed cooking, knitting

Ethel Alberta Murr, 94, of Lititz, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Luther Acres.

She was born in Lancaster to the late Raymond A. and Mary E. (Leaman) Schlemm, and was the wife of the late J. Richard Murr, who passed away in 2002.

Ethel was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Lititz. She was a 1939 graduate of McCaskey High School and a 1943 graduate of Lancaster General School of Nursing. Ethel retired as a registered nurse in 1983 after working at various hospitals, schools and doctors offices. She volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels and her hobbies were flower gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking.

She survived by two sons: Thomas Richard, husband of Brenda Ann (Seibert) Murr, of Anderson, Ind.; David Craig, husband of the late Martina Lyn (Stoner) Murr, of Pfafftown, N.C.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother: Jere R., husband of Sandra (Beam) Schlemm, of East Petersburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter: Bethany Jean Murr; and two brothers: James Schlemm and Major C.L. Schlemm.

Services were held April 23, at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 N. Ninth St., Akron, with Pastor Ryan E. Taylor officiating. Interment took place in the Brownstown Cemetery.
