Ervin H. Martin, 84, Rohrer’s Quarry driver, East Petersburg Fire Company, historical society member

Ervin H. Martin, 84, formerly of East Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born in Frogtown, East Earl Township, he was the son of the late Adam H. and Katie Hornberger Martin. He was the loving husband of Dorothy Mae Metzler Martin, and they would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this March.

Ervin retired after 32 years as a truck driver for Rohrer’s Quarry Inc, Lititz. He was a member of East Petersburg Mennonite Church. Ervin was also a member of the East Petersburg Fire Company and the historical society. He enjoyed gardening.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son: Gerald L., husband of Mary Stouffer Martin, of Lancaster; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Leon, husband of Lydia Martin, of Leola; Melvin, husband of Shirley Martin, of Kinzer; Galen, husband of Barbara Martin, of Narvon; and four sisters: Mildred Kennel of Parkesburg; Arlene, wife of Melvin Graver, of Lancaster; Beatrice Hess of Pequea; and Verna, wife of Earl Martin, of New Holland.

He was preceded in death by a son: Donald E. Martin; and a brother: Harold Martin.

Services were held at East Petersburg Mennonite Church on Jan. 28, with interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
