Erma M. Buckwalter99, church secretary, family historian

Erma M. Buckwalter, 99, died at Landis Homes Tuesday, May 15, 2012.

She was the wife of A. Herman Buckwalter for 65 years before his death in 1999. Born in Pequea Township, Erma was the daughter of the late Amos and Anna (Kreider) Mellinger.

She was a graduate of the former Lancaster Business School. A homemaker, she was a member of First Church of God, Lancaster. Erma had worked as secretary for the First Church of God for over 20 years. She retired in 1977. Erma was fondly remembered as being the family historian.

She is survived by a son: David L., husband of Patricia (McKinney) Buckwalter, of Manheim; two daughters: Sara Ann, wife of Randall Bauer, of Stone Harbor, N.J.; and Judith Marie, wife of Barry Murry, of Lancaster; and four grandchildren: Kirk Bauer, husband of Christine VanCleve; Elizabeth, wife of Willian Braungard; Jill, wife of Patrick McCardell; and David Murry; and seven great-grandchildren.

Erma was preceded in death by a son: John Herman; four brothers: William, Amos, Alvin and Jacob Mellinger; and three sisters: Elizabeth Weaver, Anna Snavely and Marion Lefever.

Services and burial in New Danville Mennonite Cemetery are private.
