Dorothy J. Burkhart, 93, attend Lititz Moravian, RCA technician, beauty shop owner

Dorothy J. “Dotty” Burkhart, 93, lifelong resident of Lititz, died peacefully at Moravian Manor Monday, July 20, 2015.

She was born in Lititz to the late Levi and Mary (Crawford) Yerger. Dotty was the wife of the late John A. Burkhart, who died in 2005.

Dotty worked as a technician for RCA, and was a member of Lititz Moravian Church. She enjoyed crocheting, latch hook, and knitting. In her younger years Dotty enjoyed bowling and she operated a beauty shop. She loved her Airedale dogs, traveling in her retirement, and sharing her sharp memories of the 1930s and 1940s.

Surviving Dotty are several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dotty was preceded in death by two brothers: Jacob and Charles Yerger.

Services were held July 24 at Spacht-Snyder Family Funeral Home and Crematory, Lititz, with the Rev. Clyde Martin officiating. Interment was in the Moravian Cemetery.
