Dorothy F. Mark, 98, Trinity ECC member, gifted baker, memorable sense of humor

Dorothy F. Mark, 98, formerly of 57 Buch Avenue, Lancaster, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 5, 2014.

Born in Pittsburgh, Dorothy was the wife of the late Rev. Harry C. Mark and the daughter of the late William R. and Eva Minerva Peifer Lesher.

Dorothy was a resident of Lancaster County since 1952 and, since her teenage years, enjoyed teaching Sunday School at various churches until she was 90 years old. She was a member of the Long Memorial United Methodist Church and, after her retirement, belonged to Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Lititz.

At Long Memorial United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Missionary Society. She enjoyed knitting, was a wonderful seamstress, hostess and loved baking, especially pies and apple dumplings. She will be lovingly remembered for her sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughter: Annetta M. Elmer, Lancaster; a sister: Loretta Boyles, Honea Path, S.C.; two grandchildren: Mark A., husband of Melinda S. Elmer and Gary E., husband of Peggy A. Elmer, all of Lititz; nine great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister: Edna Leland; and brother: Earl Lesher.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dorothy’s Life Celebration Service at the Spacht Funeral Home, 127 S. Broad Street, Lititz, on Thursday, May 8, at 11 a.m. with The Rev. Harry T. Dow and The Rev. Len Calhoun officiating. Interment at Greenwood Ebenezer Cemetery, Lebanon. The family will receive friends 90 minutes prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to United Zion Retirement Home, Attn: Caring Fund, 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
