Doris F. Bell, 93, worked at Donegal Industries, avid motorhome traveler, PSU fan

Doris F. Bell, 93, of Manheim, died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Ethel Elsen Fawber. Doris was the loving wife of the late Jay S. Bell who died in May of 2013.

After many years Doris retired from Donegal Industries, Mount Joy, where she worked as a sewing machine operator; she was also employed at other sewing manufacturing companies in the Manheim area. She attended Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim, where she helped with the funeral luncheons. Her interests included counted cross-stitch, and needlepoint. Doris had a life-long passion for travel, and delighted in extensively exploring the United States with her husband in their motorhome. Every year Doris and Jay faithfully traveled to the Penn State University football games.

Surviving is a son: Jay R. husband of Glenna Bell of Manheim; two grandchildren: Brian, husband of Linda Bell; and Stacy Bell; two great-grandsons: Tyler and Dylan Bell; a brother: Richard Fawber of Landisville; and a sister, Joan, wife of John Musser of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.

Preceding her in death is a brother: Robert Fawber.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Doris’ memorial service in the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 N. Penryn Road, Manheim, on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. Friends may visit with the family in the Hoffer Auditorium on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Doris’s memory to the Manheim Central Food Pantry c/o Salem UMC, 140 N. Penn St., Manheim, PA 17545.
