Denton Lamarr Miller, 74, long-time Trinity E.C. parishioner, 40-year Pioneer Fire Company member

Denton Lamarr Miller, 74, of Ephrata, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Lancaster General Hospital.

He was born in Lititz to the late Elmer and Viola (Adams) Miller, and was the husband of Beverly (Doutrich) Miller, with whom he shared more than 54 years of marriage.

Denton was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Lititz, for 54 years where he served as a head usher, greeter, and on numerous church committees. He was a member of Ephrata Fire Police, Ephrata Blue Lodge No. 665 F.&A.M., Ephrata Lions Club, and a 40-year member of Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company He was a school crossing guard for Ephrata School District, drove school bus for 36 years, and was a bus driving instructor and trainer. Denton was also a volunteer ambulance driver for Ephrata Hospital. He worked for Graybill’s Dairy for many years. He was also a furniture salesman for Stauffer’s Furniture and then was self-employed as a sales representative. He also worked for numerous local car dealers transporting vehicles. Denton was a big supporter of his son during each annual Make-A-Wish Mother’s Day Truck Convoy. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

In addition to his wife, Denton is survived by a son: Daryl L., husband of Denise (Frey) Miller, of Columbia; a daughter: Wendy R., wife of Greg Anspacher, of Salisbury, Md.; two grandchildren: Erik and David Brubaker; a great-granddaughter: Lilliana Grace Brubaker; two brothers: Gilles R. Miller of Lititz; Randy D., husband of Dee Miller of Lititz; sister: Sharyn, wife of Ray Deater, of Lititz.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, April 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Trinity E.C. Church, 44 E. Orange St., Lititz. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 21, at 4 p.m., at the church, with Pastor Nathan Fry officiating. Family will accept friends following the memorial service. Private interment will take place in the St. John’s United Methodist Church Cemetery.
