Deaths of Local Interest – Sept. 5, 2019

Grant F. Bleacher, 91, passed away peacefully Aug. 26, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Elizabethtown. A veteran, Grant proudly served with the U.S. Army. He worked as an inspector for Armstrong World Industries, Lancaster, for over 35 years until his retirement in 1986. His daughter, Karen L. Kettering, married to Robert, resides in Manheim.

David Elmer Kunkle, 83, of Nunda, N.Y., passed away Aug. 30 at Unity Hospital, Rochester, N.Y. Born in Ephrata, he was also a past member of Hinkletown Mennonite Church and Sweden Hill Mennonite Church. He retired at the age of 80 as a soil consultant with Agri-Dynamics. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. His son, David Eric, husband of Sheree (Maclean) Kunkle, lives in Lititz.

Harold W. Long, 68, of Ephrata, died peacefully at home on Aug.24. He was a member and deacon at Frystown Conservative Baptist Brethren Church and worked for John Weidman & Sons of Ephrata as an HVAC service technician for over 40 years. Harold enjoyed model railroading, photography, gardening and fishing. His daughter, Hollie Long, lives in Manheim.
