Deaths of Local Interest – May 2, 2019

Clyde Hess Herr, 96, of Lancaster, passed away April 22 at the Mennonite Home. As a young man, Clyde was engaged in farming and later was employed by Martin’s Chicks as a maintenance foreman for over 50 years. He was a charter member of Hempfield United Methodist Church and was dedicated to his wife and family. Designing and creating furniture and wood projects was a favorite pastime in his basement wood-shop. His brother, Ira C. (Mary Jean) Herr Jr., lives in Lititz.

Rufus S. Musser, 90, of Ephrata, passed away at home on April 24, after a short illness. A retired farmer, Rufus was a member of Meadow Valley Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference). The following survivors live in Lititz: son, Marlin, husband of Merla (Sensenig) Musser; daughter, Lorraine Nolt; stepson, Paul Zimmerman; brother, Roman (Kathryn) Musser; and sister, Mary, wife of Lloyd High.

Irvin B. Weaver, 78, passed away April 27 at University Hospital, Columbia, Mo. Born in Ephrata, Irvin was a retired farmer. He moved to Versailles, Mo. in 1978. He was ordained as a minister for Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church in Latham, Mo. and served until his death. A sister, Lena Zimmerman, lives in Lititz.

David N. Zimmerman, 76, of Ephrata, passed away April 25 at Fairmount Homes. He was a member of Hammer Creek Mennonite, Lititz, where he was a church trustee for many years. He served 1-W Service in Colorado in the mid 1960s, enjoyed gardening, was a farmer for 21 years, and an employee of Paul B. Zimmerman, Inc. prior to his retirement. A sister, Anna (Marvin) Reiff, lives in Manheim.
