Deaths of Local Interest – Jan. 10, 2019

Mae D. Cooper, 93, of Masonic Villages, passed away Dec. 30. She retired from AMP, Inc. as a packer after 34 years of service. At work she was known as the “coffee lady” as she always had a hot pot on. Mae was a member of Mount Joy Church of God. She was also a member of the Red Rose Snowmobile Club and volunteered at the voting polls. Mae enjoyed puzzles, baking, and most of all spending time with her family. A brother, Jay Kauffman, husband of Peggy; and a sister: Vera Arndt, all live in Manheim.

Mildred I. (Esbenshade) Pfautz, 90, of Stevens, passed away Dec. 23 at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital, surrounded by her children. She was a member of Hinkletown Mennonite Church, where she taught children’s Sunday school. A homemaker, she also helped with Pfautz Farm Market and was known as the Pumpkin People Creator. She loved to host friends and family and also to bake and decorate cakes. A son, Rick, husband of Sue (Hollingsworth) Pfautz, lives in Lititz.

Edward G. Welsh Sr., 76, of Marietta passed away on Jan. 5. Edward retired from the former Mountville Wallpaper after almost 30 years. He was a fan of old western movies and professional wrestling. He will be remembered by his family for that special smile, caring heart, his warm embrace he always gave, and being there for his family no matter what. A son, Brian, husband of Heather Welsh, resides in Manheim.
