Deaths of Local Interest – Jan. 1, 2015

Marvin J. Albert, 68, of Mount Joy, passed away suddenly of natural causes Dec. 22. Following his high school graduation, Marvin entered the Navy in 1965 during the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of CTT2 during his time in service. He had a long career with the US Postal Service as an accountant, retiring in 2005 with over 30 years of service. Marvin enjoyed spending time making maple syrup, was an avid Lancaster Barnstormers fan, and belonged to the Penn Dutch Pacers. He was a member of the American Legion of Lititz. His daughter, Margaret Walmer, wife of Scott, lives in Lititz.

William H. Danner Sr., 85, of Lancaster, died Dec. 21 at Evergreen Estates in Lancaster. Bill had served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until 1953. He worked at the Burnham Corp. for 34 years as a fork lift driver and retired in 1993. The following family reside in Lititz: son, William H. Jr. married to Karen E. (Campbell) Danner; daughter, Phyllis J. Haines; and sister, Mildred A., married to James D. Eby.

Theda J. Eshleman, 94, a resident of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, formerly of Refton, entered into rest Dec. 25. Theda was a homemaker and a local Avon representative for over 50 years and won several awards. She loved spending time with her family. Her son, Dennis C., husband of Audrey, lives in Lititz.

Norman E. Getz, 87, died Dec. 19 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was an avid antique car and truck enthusiast and participated in local and national competitions and rallies. Norm served in the United States Army during WWII.His former wife and mother of his six children, Phyllis (Sweigart) Kveragas, lives in Lititz.

Anna V. Zelem, 92, of Ephrata, passed away at home Dec. 24. Anna was born in New York, N.Y. She went to Gray East New York High School and was a homemaker. Rest in peace, beloved Anna Zelem. You were the true definition of a matriarch. Words cannot explain how much you will be missed. Her daughter, Dianne Skilling, lives in Lititz.
