Deaths of Local Interest – April 19, 2018

Harold J. “HJ” Barton, 72, of Elizabethtown, passed away April 11 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Harold retired from High Steel as a crane operator. His sharp wit, handiwork, remodeling and talented woodworking will be sadly missed. A family-oriented husband and father, he enjoyed trips to his cabin in the mountains, hunting and most of all spending time with his family. His sister, Janet Stuck, wife of James, lives in Manheim.

Edward I. “Bud” Brock, 83, of Marietta, passed away on April 8 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Bud retired in 1996 after 25 years of service from the Armstrong Ceiling Plant, Marietta, where he worked as a tool and die maker. An avid hunter, he enjoyed visiting the family cabin in Huntington County and spending time with his family. His daughter, Pamela, wife of William Plasterer, resides in Manheim.

June L. Simmons, 86, formerly of Farmersville, passed away April 11 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. She was an avid Phillies, Eagles, Penn State, and Duke Blue Devils fan. She loved gardening and working with the soil. She adored her family and attended all activities that involved her grandchildren. She worked for Conestoga Valley School District for many years. Her sibling, Lee Thomas (Mike), lives in Brickerville. Sibling Betty Hoar (Pete), resides in Lititz.

Abraham Stotz, 75, of Marietta, passed away on April 10. He was a simple man who enjoyed being outdoors, taking long walks around town, and having a smoke. He had friendly, teasing relationships with people at the local gas station marts. He also loved music, especially Elvis Presley. A brother, Darryl Stotz, resides in Lititz.
