Deaths of Local Interest – March 2, 2017

Violet Kreider Buckwalter, 100, went to be with her Lord Feb.22 at Landis Homes where she lived for the past 22 years. Violet was a life-long member of Mellinger Mennonite Church, where she was involved in their sewing circle for many years. She also did a lot of volunteering at Friendship Community and Landis Homes. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and sold produce at Lancaster Central Market for many years with her family. Spending time at their mountain cabin, “Britton Springs,” in Centre County, brought her much happiness.

Randolph M. “Randy” Doster, 79, Ephrata, died Feb. 22 in Ephrata Community Hospital. He served in the US Air Force. Randy retired from Keystone Peterbilt, Lancaster, and last worked for Advance Auto Parts, Ephrata. He was a lifelong sports fan, specifically Penn State. Randy was a kind and loving man to everyone. His daughter, Jennifer D., married to John D. Rohrbach, lives in Lititz.

Anna M. Eby, 74, a resident of Landis Homes, passed on Feb. 24. A homemaker most of her life, she enjoyed the nine years she spent working at Brereton Manor in Washington Boro. Anna was a member of Living Light Mennonite Church and spent many hours supporting her husband in his pastoral work there One of her gifts was the gift of hospitality, and she enjoyed welcoming, and serving meals to many people in her home over the years. She was also gifted in caring for and understanding people’s needs. The family would like to thank the staff of Landis Homes for the wonderful care she received.

Doris J. Lampo, 95, who has resided at Brethren Village for 10 years, died peacefully Feb. 24. She loved plants and flowers and was a past member of the Garden Club of Lancaster. Her favorite love, however, was traveling. Doris retired from the former Ear, Nose, and Throat Associates in 1980, and had previously worked at Educators Mutual Life Insurance Company. Her sister, Marian Fosdick, lives in Lititz.

Lyla Nicole Moss, 18 months, of Maidencreek Township, passed away suddenly at her home on Feb. 25. Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of Dustin J. and Jaymi N. (Goretzke) Moss. Her maternal great-grandmother, Betty Rambler, resides in Lititz.
