Deaths of Local Interest – July 21, 2016

Robert K. “Brummy” Brumbach, 85, of Ephrata, passed away July 13 at home. He was a champion Parcheesi player and an avid sports spectator. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver, from the early age of 16, for DE-PEN-Line, formerly Ephrata Motors, having retired in 1992. A son, Lon, husband of Joanne (Brady) Brumbach, lives in Manheim. His sister, Evelyn, wife of Perry Hackman, resides in Lititz.

Lydia Jane Martin, 91, of Ephrata, went home to be with the Lord July 16, surrounded by family. She was a member of Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, Ephrata. The following relatives live in Lititz: son, John M., husband of Arlene (Horning) Hurst; step-son, Earl K., husband of Barbara (Newswenger) Martin; sisters-in-law, Vera Martin.

Bettie J. McCauley, 84, of Lancaster, passed away July 12 at Conestoga View, where she had been a guest since 2006. Bettie worked at the former Hamilton Watch Co. for several years, and then ran her own cleaning service. She enjoyed gardening, reading, music and theatre. Her brother, Barry, husband of Rita Grenawalt, lives in Lititz.

Madonna Lynn (Rybolt) Talbert M.D., 63, of Ephrata, went home to be with the Lord July 15 at her home in Ephrata, after a six-year battle with breast cancer. From 2000-2007, she worked at Obstetrics and Gynecology of Lancaster; and then from 2007 until present, she has been with Ephrata Community Hospital OB-GYN, now Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital. She served on the staff at the former St. Joseph Medical Center, now Lancaster Regional Medical Center, from 1984 to 2010. Later she served as vice chair of Lancaster General OB-GYN department from 2000-2006. Her daughter, Meredith Leanne, married to Andrew Troy Heil, lives in Manheim.
