Deaths of Local Interest – July 14, 2016

Hannah M. Lawson, 70, of Lancaster, passed away July 2 at Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center of Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. She was employed for 10 years as a bank teller by Fulton Bank at the Greenfield branch. She was past president of the Intercourse Lioness Club and a former member of the Witmer Fire Company Auxiliary. She had a lifelong curiosity for learning and shared that passion with her family. A special friend, Earl Moyer, resides in Manheim.

Evelyn (Neff) Rohrer, 93, of Mountville, passed away July 8 at the Mennonite Home after a brief illness. She worked with the family business, Harry C. Rohrer Plumbing and Heating and Rohrer’s Hardware Store. Evelyn was a member of the Mountville Mennonite Church. She enjoyed traveling, family and music. A son, Larry Rohrer, married to Carol, lives in Manheim. A brother, John W. Neff, married to Irene, resides in Lititz.

Rev. Reid W. Stroud, 81, of Mount Joy, formerly of Philadelphia, died July 2 at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community in Manheim. He served in the United States Merchant Marine. Reid served a circuit of three churches in central Kentucky as a student pastor and from 1964-1998 he served eight United Methodist congregations in Philadelphia, Bucks, and Chester counties. He was passionate about history and education, and received a special joy in his grandchildren, having just officiated his grandson’s wedding in May.
