Deaths of Local Interest – Jan. 4, 2018

David J. Crawford, 72, of Gap, passed away at the UPMC Pinnacle Lancaster on Dec. 28. He was a member of Christiana United Methodist Church. Dave retired from J.D. Kauffman Machine Shop of Christiana. Dave loved cars and talking about cars, going to car shows and cruises, the Philadelphia Phillies and Flyers. A daughter, Diane M., wife of Chad Perry, lives in Lititz.

Jane Elizabeth (Berkebile) Drenner, 91, of Quarryville, formerly of Mount Joy, died at home on Dec. 23. She worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years until retiring from Lancaster General Hospital. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Joy. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, needlework, travel, and square dancing. Her son, Donald D. (Pamela) Drenner, resides in Penryn.

Millard P. Eppig — A memorial service for Millard P. Eppig, who passed away on Nov. 17, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Herr Estate, 200 Luther Lane, Columbia. To send an online condolence, visit

Jacob S. Ginder, 93, formerly of Mount Joy, passed away Dec. 25 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was born in Rapho Township. Jacob retired from farming in 1996. He also bought and sold used farm equipment and drove school bus for the Manheim Central School District. He was a member of Mountville Mennonite Church since 1947. Jacob was devoted to his family, helping his children on their family farms.

Lois Jane Heckman, 82, departed this life at Brethren Village on Dec. 25 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Lois was a very caring person and her careers in nursing and as a counselor reflected this. For 17 years, she served as a counselor and then director of women and children’s services at the Water Street Rescue Mission. As director, she helped open the Lydia Center at Grace Plateau, a women’s ministry of the WSRM, located in Wrightsville.

Joanne L.A. Wright Honeychurch, 79, Cornwall Manor, formerly of Mount Gretna and Lemoyne, passed away Dec. 26. She was the wife of the late Thomas H. Honeychurch.

Eve S. Kline, 81, of West Willow, died Dec. 26 at her home. She worked in several capacities of quality control at various locations including Hamilton Technologies, Schick Corporation and Visions Marketing, all in Lancaster. Eve enjoyed camping in Delaware for many years and especially liked salt water fishing for tuna. Her animals were very special to her and she took care of feral cats. Her son, Albert S., husband of Jill Winchell; and daughter, Jo Allison Winchell, all reside in Lititz.

Paul B. Lapp, 87 of Gordonville, formerly of Coatesville, passed away at his home Dec. 25. Paul was a very active member of Sandy Hill Community Church of Coatesville for 63 years. As a young man, he participated in showing cattle and playing baseball. In addition to farming, Paul drove school bus for Coatesville Area Schools and also hauled cattle for many years. In his retirement years he was a driver for many Amish friends and neighbors. Paul enjoyed hunting at the family cabin in Clinton County and in Wyoming. His sister-in-law, Geraldine Lapp, lives in Lititz.

Catherine Lee, 68, of Ephrata, and formerly of Philadelphia, passed away Dec. 25. Catherine was born in Philadelphia and worked as a crossing guard for the City of Philadelphia. She is survived by four sons and a daughter. Her son, Shaun Morais (Monica), resides in Lititz.

Lloyd B. “Pete” Wilson, 83, of Pequea Township, passed away at home on Dec. 24. Pete served in the U.S. Army where he obtained the rank of SP4. In his younger years, he worked for the West Willow Farmers Association. He retired from Lancaster Threaded Products as a machine operator after 29 years. He was a member of the West Willow United Methodist Church. His brother, Earl F. Jr., husband of Marian Wilson, resides in Lititz.
