Deaths of Local Interest – Jan. 25, 2018

Steven Edward Brenner, 56, of Blackwell, Mo., departed this life Dec. 20 at home. Steve attended Conestoga Valley High School before enlisting and proudly serving his country in the Marine Corps. He worked as a machinist for nearly 40 years, beginning with Stauffer Machine in Ephrata, and most recently with MD & A in St. Louis. He loved the outdoors, and especially cherished time spent with his family. His sister, Danita (Irvin) Martin, lives in Manheim. His sister, Amy (Jeffrey) Auker, lives in Lititz.

Mattie Kauffman, 76, of Honey Brook, passed away Jan. 16 at home. A homemaker, Mrs. Kauffman was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Her daughter, Barbie, married to Amos Lapp, resides in Lititz.

Clarence W. Klingeman, 84, of Lebanon, passed away Jan. 18 at his home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a project manager for GE, and was a member of the Church of St. Cecilia, Shenandoah East End Field & Stream Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW, and the R. Field & Stream Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, painting, watching Philadelphia Phillies baseball games and Penn State football games. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren at his cabin in the Pocono Mountains. His daughter, Christine S. Raubenstine, wife of Brad, lives in Lititz.

Keith Scott Weachter, 49, of Ephrata, passed away Jan. 19 at the Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center of Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. Keith fought a very determined eight-year battle with lung cancer. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Ryder Truck for 29 years.Keith loved nature and the outdoors, spending time hiking through Middlecreek Wildlife Management Area, birdwatching, and playing golf. Keith will be remembered as having an outgoing personality, a good sense of humor, and caring very much for the people in his life. He will be greatly be missed. His parents, Larry and Nancy Shiffler Weachter, live in Lititz.

Clarence N. Zimmerman, 93, of Stevens, passed away on Jan. 19 at home. He was a member of Springville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference. A son, Edwin Z., husband of Kathryn (Oberholtzer) Zimmerman, lives in Manheim. A daughter, Mildred Z., wife of Noah Hurst, lives in Lititz.
