David D. Lauris, 65, of Lititz, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 30. Born in McKeesport to the late William J. and Martha A. Lauris, he was the loving husband of Pamela G. Lauris for 44 years.

A graduate of Juniata College, David was a committed educator, teaching social studies at Cocalico High School for 35 years. His passion for his students extended beyond the school day and included coaching both football and field events in track. In addition, Dave advised the mock trial team to several successful seasons. Throughout his adult life, Dave was an avid skier, hoping to ski on every continent. Seeing the world and experiencing new cultures, especially the food, were exciting to him. In later years, Dave enjoyed collecting coins and reading Christian literature and nonfiction, especially biographies.

Dave was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by children: Erika J., wife of Jesse M. Rhodeside, of Lancaster; and Matthew D., husband of Abigail J. (Krantz), Manheim; two granddaughters: Naomi J. Rhodeside and Lillian J. Lauris; and two siblings: William Lauris and Jane Samluk.

A memorial service was held Oct. 11 at Grace Church, Lititz.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liebenzell USA, an international evangelical mission, to the fund of Crystal Gosnell. Crystal, a former student of Dave’s, works in Africa. To donate, visit mission.liebenzellusa.org/give.
