Cathryn “Sis/Shorty” Adams, 90, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully from her home of 10 years at Brethren Village to her eternal home on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015.

Formerly of 1802 Brunnerville Road Lititz, she was preceded in death by her parents: Alvin W. and Clara (Heister) Adams; an infant sister Shirley; brothers: Roy Adams of Berks County, Harold H. Adams of Lititz and Richard H. Adams also of Lititz.

Aunt Sis is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families who she held dear.

Cathryn was a poultry farmer for 25 years and also worked at Walter W. Moyer Company and Gerber Childrenswear for 25 years. She was elected tax collector for Elizabeth Township for several terms. She was a life long member of the Ephrata Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday school and was on the bowling league. She also served on numerous community committees, including the Lititz Women’s Club.

However, her great passion was Scouting, where she received her 60-year pin. She was a former chairman of the Rolling Hills Neighborhood of the Girl Scouts, troop leader, mentor and friend. Some of her happiest times were spent around a campfire or outside on her car port entertaining friends and family. Cathryn was a daughter, sister, aunt, co-worker, neighbor and most of all friend. With her bright smile, she could raise your spirits just by being in the same room.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Cathryn’s memory may be made to Brethren Village Good Samaritan Fund, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17606 or Ephrata Church of the Brethren Deacon Fund, 201 Crescent Ave., Ephrata, PA 17522.
