Betty E. Lutz, 91, Bible Club Movement teacher, Lanc. Bible College snack shop manager

Betty E. Lutz, 91, of Lititz, formerly of Rothsville, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Moravian Manor.

She was born in Lindley, N.Y. to the late Charles A. and Sarah (Tubb) Hammond.

She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church, Ephrata.

Betty attended Simpson College in Seattle, Wash., and later transferred to Nyack College in New York state. For many years she served as a Bible teacher in released time programs of the Bible Club Movement in Pennsylvania and New York.

She married Rev. Rodney Jay Lutz, pastor of the Lindley Community Church, on Sept. 18, 1971 at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Gang Mills, N.Y. Later, the couple moved to Rothsville, where Rodney was the pastor at Fivepointville Bible Church and Betty was the snack shop manager for Lancaster Bible College for many years.

Betty is survived by a stepdaughter: Marilyn, wife of Harry Habecker, of Lancaster; two granddaughters: Lyril Haneman of Lancaster; Lori McCracken, wife of Rev. Timothy McCracken of Fresno, Calif.; a grandson: Connor McCracken of Rochester, N.Y.; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband: Rodney J. Lutz; seven sisters: Vivian Claredon, Fronia Cambers, Eunice Bertell, Esther Carpenter, Marion Walter, Kathryn Bott, and Joyce; and four brothers: Leo, Raymond, James and John (Ralph) Hammond.

The family would like to thank the staff at Moravian Manor for the care Betty received during her stay.

Services were held April 7 at Grace Fellowship Church, Ephrata, with Dr. Frank Rice officiating. Interment took place in the Terre Hill Cemetery.
