Barth B. Bailey Sr., 76, Rothsville native, taught history at Hempfield H.S., loved old cars

Barth B. Bailey Sr., 76, of Lancaster, passed Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014.

He was the son of the late Fuhrman Bailey and Sarah C. (Hoffman) Bailey. He was the husband of the late Kay Eileen (Moore) Bailey.

Born in Rothsville, he was a seventh grade history teacher at Hempfield High School for 35 years. He was a graduate of Millersville University and was a charter member of Hempfield United Methodist Church. He enjoyed old cars with his prize possession being the 1956 Ford Crown Victoria. He also enjoyed vacationing with his family on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina and Avalon, N.J.

He is survived by his three children: Barth, husband of Linda S. (Pierce) Bailey, of Lititz; Melissa K. Rudinger, wife of Richard F.; and Andrew husband of Lena J. (Jarunas) of Lancaster; four grandchildren: Joel M., Grace M., Olivia E., and Emily K. Bailey; two brothers: Howard Bailey of Dunellon, Fla. and Ken Bailey of Lancaster.

Barth’s Celebration of Life Service was held Dec. 16 at the Hempfield United Methodist Church. Interment was in the Silver Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pleasant View Retirement Community or Hempfield United Methodist Church.

Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, Lancaster, handled the arrangements.
