Barbara Ann Daggett, cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away early Friday morning, Sept. 8, 2017, at Moravian Manor nursing home in Lititz.

Barbara was born in Tremont in 1929, the daughter of Carrie and William Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Daggett Jr., two sisters, and three brothers.

Barb was a homemaker and put all of her efforts into raising her five children. As a young woman she worked for Hamilton Watch Co., and then the WT Grant Co. to help support her family. When her children began to leave home, she put herself through nursing school to become a licensed practical nurse. After graduation, she worked for Penn State Hershey Medical Center for 22 years, a job she loved and that brought her a great deal of pride and satisfaction.

Barb retired following a cancer diagnosis that she was not expected to survive and became active in numerous service organizations. She loved meeting people, history, and being involved. Barb loved a good book and a good cup of coffee. She was a tour guide and board member of the Historic Lancaster Walking Tour, a member of the Mountwaybia Book Club, the Republicans Women’s Club, and the League of Women Voters.

Barb is survived by five children: Richard and his wife, Jane; James and his wife, Audrey; Barbara and her husband, Jerry; Thomas and his wife, Marty; and Christine and her husband, Bruce. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved and cherished.

She was a loving, determined mother and friend. She touched many hearts and will be missed.

Honoring her wishes, there will be no services.

Our appreciation goes to the wonderful staff of Moravian Manor who supported her through the final chapter of her life.
