Andrew Hertzler Shaub, 96, worked for E. H. Gochnauer & Sons, active at Rohrerstown Mennonite

Andrew Hertzler Shaub, 96, of Lititz, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016, at Landis Homes.

Born in West Hempfield Township on Dec. 7, 1919, he was the son of the late C. Newton and Lida (Hertzler) Shaub. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Charles) Shaub who passed away July 28, 2003; and later married Edith Mann Gochnauer, who passed away September 30, 2006.

He was a member of the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church, where he served with his wife as deacon couple for 43 years. In addition to his involvement with the local congregation, he served on several Lancaster conference committees. Andrew was a member of the committee that organized the Brotherly Aid Plan for Lancaster Conference, which came into being in 1950 and he served in various areas of the program for 40 years. During his working years, he worked for E. H. Gochnauer and Sons Inc. for 30 years and was later employed by Rohrer’s Hardware in Woods Edge Plaza, Lancaster. His hobbies included singing, reading and gardening.

He is survived by his four children: Joyce L., wife of Roy W. Musser, of Pottsville; Jay M., husband of Marilyn (Bucher) Shaub, of Lititz; R. Elaine, wife of John Todd, of Richmond, Va.; Charlotte A., wife of Marq Ortiz, of Bernville; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wives, he is preceded in death by a sister: Mary S. Trimble.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, from 2 to 3 p.m., at the Bethany West Chapel at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, followed by his memorial service at 3 p.m., with his son-in-law, the Rev. Mark Ortiz, officiating. Interment will be private in the Rohrerstown Mennonite Cemetery.
