Alma D. Mampe, 96, Moravian Manor, attended Lititz COB, enjoyed painting landscapes

Alma D. Mampe, 96, of Lititz, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Moravian Manor.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Henry and Mary (Scholtz) Degling. Alma was the wife of the late Joseph Emil Mampe who passed away in 1984.

Alma and Joseph were longtime residents of Wayne, Pennsylvania where they attended Great Valley Presbyterian Church. Alma attended Lititz Church of the Brethren following her move to her cottage at Moravian Manor, Lititz.

Her childhood home being Philadelphia, Alma graduated Olney High School class of 1936. She trained as a medical technician at Hahnemann Hospital and was employed at the hospital. When WWII began, Alma worked for Leeds and Northrop.

Alma focused on home, her daughter Jane and her lifelong interest in music and art, of which she was most expressive in landscape painting. Gardening was also a passion.

Alma is survived by a daughter: Jane Anderson of Alaska; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Services were held at the Lititz Church of the Brethren. Burial will be private at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Moravian Manor Benevolent Care Fund, 300 West Lemon Street, Lititz, PA 17543.
