Alan Cooper, 85, master mechanic at Armstrong, VFW member, enjoyed dancing

Alan Cooper, 85, of Lititz, passed away Nov. 25, 2014 at Conestoga View.

Born in Newton, England, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dolly Mosley Cooper. He shared 58 years of marriage with Vivienne “Rita” Knowles Cooper.

Alan became a citizen of the United States in 1964, and served as a past president of the British American Club in 1969.

He was also a member of Trinity EC Church of Lititz, VFW Post #1463 of Lititz, Garden Spot Post #56 of Lititz and was a former member of the Lititz Jaycees and the American Business Club of Lititz.

Alan was employed as a master mechanic for Armstrong World Industries prior to his retirement. He enjoyed boating, fishing, baking and dancing.

He is survived by his wife: Rita; and daughters: Toni, wife of Dr. John Black, Lancaster; Karen, wife of Mark Crater, Upper Darby; sister: Jean Beardsley of England; and grandchildren: Ryan and Connor Black, and Alana and Ross Crater.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity EC Church of Lititz, 44 E. Orange St., with the Rev. Nathan Fry officiating. A visitation with the family will be held at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the New Evangelical Cemetery, Lititz.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and aides at Conestoga View for their kind and compassionate care of their loved one. Contributions may be made in honor of Alan to Trinity EC Church, or to the Conestoga View Auxiliary, 900 East King St., Lancaster, PA 17602.
