Heather Adams was a fresh face in the crowded room during the Warwick Area Republican Committee dinner Friday at the General Sutter Inn.

The Lititz resident and Warwick graduate is among no fewer than three GOP candidates seeking the job as new Lancaster County District Attorney. Adams works in private practice now with Pyfer, Reese, Straub, Gray & Farhat, specializing in criminal defense, family law and litigation. Previously, she worked with the state attorney general’s office as a senior deputy with the Drug Strike Force section of the state office. Also at the WARC dinner Friday were Adams’ GOP competitors, current assistant district attorneys Mark Fetterman and Karen Mansfield.

Adams graduated from Millersville University, cum laude and then earned her J.D. from Widener University School of Law, Harrisburg in 1997, where she graduated cum laude and was ranked fourth in her class.

She then served as a law clerk for the Honorable James P. Cullen in the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas. Adams in 1998 accepted a position as an assistant district attorney for the York County District Attorney’s Office where she was responsible for all phases of prosecution. She was then assigned to the Narcotics Unit where she gained valuable experience prosecuting felony drug crimes and drug related homicides.

In 2002, Adams accepted a position with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office in the Asset Forfeiture and Money Laundering Section. Shortly afterwards, Adams was transferred to the Drug Strike Force Section where she was responsible for felony drug and narcotics investigations and prosecutions in a nine county area.

As a senior deputy attorney general with that section, Adams has had extensive experience with the Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Act and the Statewide Investigating Grand Jury and racked up 60-plus jury trials throughout her career.
