School for Manheim Central starts on Monday

Students in the Manheim Central School District will be starting the 2018-19 school year on Monday, Aug. 27.

“My vision for our learners at Manheim Central is they would be wildly excited about coming to school each day,” said Superintendent Peter Aiken in a letter sent to parents earlier this month. “I realize we are not there yet. Yet, we will keep battling, striving to meet the needs of every student who comes to us. I look forward to seeing our 3,000 learners in a few weeks.”

A few notable upcoming events for students and parents include:

  • New Students: A meet and greet for new students and freshmen will be held Aug. 23 at 6:40 p.m. at the high school.
  • Closures: School is closed Aug. 31 and Sept. 3 for the Labor Day holiday.
  • Back-to-School Nights: Back-to-School nights are scheduled on the following dates, from 6 to 8 p.m., Middle School –
  • Sept. 6; High School – Sept. 11; Elementary buildings, Sept. 13.

Marching Barons prepare for season

Here’s some details about the Marching Barons’ upcoming season:

Performance details: “Eclipse.” The four-part movement will feature music from “Jubilateo” by Samuel Hazo, “Eclipse” by Matt Browne, and “Black Hole Sun” by American rock band Soundgarden.
