Experts to discuss how to remove the stigma from addiction and recovery

Retreat Behavioral Health is proud to partner with the Northern Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce for an event focused on fighting the stigma of addiction. On Wednesday, March 6th at 12 p.m., these organizations will host Wellness Wednesday: Recovery: The Stigma & Why Support After Treatment is Important at Retreat Behavioral Health’s Outpatient Office.

An estimated 20 million people are in long-term recovery in the United States. While there’s a great deal of support and resources for those in recovery, the societal stigma can be challenging to overcome. Retreat’s Director of Alumni Services Maggie Hunt, who has been in recovery for nearly a decade, will provide advice and insight about how to change that perception in order to help those who are trying to successfully navigate the transition into society.

This Wellness Wednesday workshop coincides with Black Balloon Day, an international day designed to bring awareness to overdose deaths. Retreat employees will provide black balloons to community members to commemorate this solemn occasion.

Retreat employees and alumni will be available for press interviews concerning Wellness Wednesday and Black Balloon Day.
