Scholarships

Two college students in our coverage area were among 28 who received scholarships from the Pennsylvania Farm Show Scholarship Foundation during the 101st Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg.

The foundation awards scholarships to young people who are registered in a post-secondary educational institution and who have exhibited at the Farm Show. To be chosen, students must exhibit leadership qualities and excellent academic performance, according to the foundation.

These two students were honored:

Allyson Balmer, of Manheim, a Penn State junior majoring in agricultural and extension education, with a minor in international agriculture.

Karoline Kent, of Lititz, a sophomore at Penn State Berks, majoring in animal science, with minors in agribusiness management and equine science.

The Farm Show Scholarship Foundation has awarded nearly $1.4 million in scholarship money to 500 students since its founding in 1993.

Results for all farm show categories are not currently posted on the farm show web site. For a detailed list of all 2017 Farm Show award winners in the above-mentioned categories, visit farmshow.state.pa.us.
