Businesses, clubs, bands, and local service organizations will march in the Lititz Lions patriotic parade, set for Friday evening, July 1, at 6:30 p.m.

Businesses, clubs, bands, and local service organizations will march in the Lititz Lions patriotic parade, set for Friday evening, July 1, at 6:30 p.m.

Recently retired Lititz Police Chief William Seace, will serve as parade marshal in the Lititz Lions Independence Day Parade, set for Friday, July 1, at 6:30 p.m.

This year the Lititz Patriotic Parade celebrates its 25th anniversary and is co-chaired by Mary Schreiber and Kristen Loose for the first time. Outgoing chair Bob Criswell is to be commended for his many years of service to the parade. Three of the founding members of the parade committee will also ride in the parade. They are Bill Dussinger Sr., Jerry Husser, and Al Forsht.

Police will be bagging the parking meters three hours prior to the start of the parade at 6:30 p.m.

People may put chairs and blankets along the streets with parking meters three hours, starting at 3:30 p.m before the parade begins. On blocks where there are no parking meters, people may put chairs and blankets down five hours before the parade, or at 1:30 p.m.

Chairs and blankets will be collected by police if the policy is not followed as indicated, subject to penalties and fines according to law.

Oldies in the park

Immediately following the end of the parade, a concert will take place in the Lititz Springs Park band shell.

For the 18th time, Flamin’ Dick and the Hotrods will transport concert-goers back to the 50s and 60s. Their classic renditions have the soulful sound and feel of the original artists: Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Cochran, Bill Haley, Elvis, The Righteous Brothers, Gene Vincent, Dion, and more.
