Lititz Borough Council heard from seven residents Tuesday night who urged local leaders to do whatever is necessary to keep the Lititz Springs Pool a community staple.

Council had requested residents share their thoughts on whether or not the borough should continue to invest money in the pool, which has needed repairs each season. The piping system is about 50 years old, according to council president Karen Weibel.

Since the Lititz recCenter started managing the borough-owned pool a year ago, residents expressed some concern about possible price increases, but noted that advertising and program expansion might be possible through the partnership.

Borough council doesn’t plan to make any changes to the pool until additional discussions are had, Weibel said.

“We won’t make any decisions under the cover of night,” she said. “It’s really important for us to hear from (the community) first.”
