Fight Hunger at Lititz Empty Bowls

By on October 24, 2018

On Sunday, Nov. 4, St. Paul Lutheran Church will host the second annual Lititz Empty Bowls Dinner at Rock Lititz Pod 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. More than 15 local restaurants and businesses will be there to serve soup, bread and desserts.

Local artists, including student artists from Warwick High School and Linden Hall, have graciously donated 200-plus bowls for guests to use at the dinner. The bowls can be taken home as a reminder of the hunger that affects so many. In addition to enjoying delicious food, guests will be entertained by music from Benit and Miller, and magic from Papa Tater. There will also be a silent auction featuring over 20 items ranging from pottery, to gift baskets, to cookware sets.

All proceeds benefit the Wittel Farm Growing Project, which grows fruits and vegetables to donate to food banks throughout Lancaster County, including Peter’s Porch in Lititz. The Wittel Farm is partnered with Hunger Free Lancaster County.

Once again this year, the response to the event has been overwhelming. premium tickets, which include a bowl, are nearly sold out, but general admission tickets are still available. With these, guests can come for the food and entertainment, without going home with a bowl.

Tickets are not sold at the door. Premium tickets are $25, students are $10 and under age five enter free. General admission tickets are being sold at a reduced rate of $20. For a list of participating restaurants and businesses, or to purchase tickets, visit stpaullititz.net/emptybowls.
