An Atlas of a store

By on November 28, 2018

Atlas General Store, a locally-owned small business, has opened its doors at 46 E. Main St. in downtown Lititz.

Tim Geiger is founder of Atlas General Store of downtown Lititz.

A modern interpretation of an old-time general store, the business has replaced traditional “departments” with categories relevant to today’s consumers including stationary, bath and body, home decor, furniture, fashion accessories, stationery, products for the kitchen and bar, men’s gifts, and more. The focus is on small American made makers and makers with strong social missions.
The look of the space has been described as a shop one would find in a larger city like Philadelphia or Brooklyn.

“We transformed the space through the addition of new flooring and a new color palette,” says founder Tim Geiger. According to Geiger, the name Atlas General Store is a nod to his hometown of Northampton, Pa., where Atlas Cement Company was based. Although the business has only been open a few weeks, Geiger says that the store is already off to a strong start.

“We’d like to extend our gratitude for the gracious welcome to the local residents, local businesses, and visitors from near and far,” Geiger said. “We are humbled by the overwhelmingly positive response to our creation. We are so excited to be part of the Lititz community.”
