Warfel Construction and Aaron’s Acres are partnering to host a sensory-friendly Touch A Truck event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Manheim Veteran Memorial Park.

The event will be held in the area near Manheim Community Pool, 504 Adele Ave. Guests of all ages and abilities will be able to touch, explore, and learn about construction equipment provided by local businesses.

“We’re holding the event in Manheim where we have our summer camp,” said Risa Paskoff, executive director of Aaron’s Acres. “Our families are familiar with the area, and Manheim has been so welcoming to our campers and their families.”

Sara Crimmel Miller, Warfel’s marketing communications manager, said the event is part of the company’s third annual Pay It Forward Campaign. Pay It Forward benefits a different local not-for-profit organization each year. The campaign began in 2016 when Warfel’s employees and subcontractor partners raised over $3,000 for #IMPACTLANCASTER Challenge. Last year the Make-A-Wish Foundation was the focus of Warfel’s fundraising efforts; over $7,900 was raised for the Adopt-A-Wish program. She said this year Warfel selected Aaron’s Acres, and funds will help defray the cost of the organization’s summer camp program.

“The Touch A Truck event will provide a memorable experience for children and young adults who may not be able to participate in other similar events in our community,” Miller said.

Touch A Truck is open to the community. In addition to construction equipment and vehicles, refreshments will be available. Those who RSVP on Aaron’s Acres Facebook page will receive lunch provided by Lancaster Burger Company and a free Warfel children’s hardhat. Stop by for lunch and to engage in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Aaron’s Acres serves children and young adults ages 5 to 21 with developmental disabilities in Lancaster, Dauphin, and Berks counties. The organization is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. For more information about Aaron’s Acres visit
