Friends of Manheim Community Library will host fundraisers

By on February 6, 2019

The Friends of the Manheim Community Library will host several fundraisers over the next few months. These include the first-time Dine Out for the Library and the third annual outing to the interactive dinner theatre, Murder at Mount Hope Mansion.

Dine Out for the Library kicks off this month with a number of opportunities to dine out and support the library. The Friends group has partnered with several Manheim-area restaurants for the fundraiser. Stacey Gibble Barrick, presidents of the Friends, organized this event.

“I was a member of the Simpson Library in Mechanicsburg’s Friends group, and one of our fundraisers was a Dine Out event. I thought it was something that could work for the Manheim library, too,” she explained, “February is Library Lovers Month so this is a good fit. We’ve partnered with a variety of restaurants, so there should be something for everyone’s taste.”

The Friends of the Manheim Library piloted Dine Out last summer with an event at The Shack.

Dine Out

Here’s how the Dine Out fundraiser works. People can visit the library to pick up a coupon or print one from the library’s website: manheimlibrary.org/dine-out-for-the-library. When the coupon is turned in to the participating restaurant on designated dine out dates, a portion of the guest’s bill will be donated to benefit Manheim Community Library.

Participating restaurants and their designated Dine Out dates are:

  • Manheim 1 Diner – Mondays, Feb. 11, 18, and 25
  • City Star Diner – Wednesdays, Feb. 6, 13, 20, and 27
  • Two Cousins Manheim – second Tuesday of every month beginning Feb. 12
  • Rino’s Pizza – first Tuesday of every month beginning Feb. 5
  • Manheim Subway – first Wednesday every month beginning March 6
  • Twin Kiss – Tuesday, March 19 and 26
  • The Shack – Wednesdays, May 8 and June 26

Additional dates for Dine Out opportunities may be added and will be posted on the library’s website.

PThe Friends of the Manheim Community Library will host a third annual Murder at Mount Hope Mansion fundraiser on March 31.

Murder at Mount Hope Mansion

The library’s third annual Murder at Mount Hope Mansion will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 31. The performance will be held at the Mount Hope Estate & Winery, 2775 Lebanon Road, Manheim. Cost is $50.95 per person and includes a four-course dinner, the interactive murder mystery performance, and an opportunity to participate in a raffle for various gift baskets.

“We look for creative ways to raise funds for the library. I love interactive theatre,” said Elaine Gantz, committee chair for this event, “It’s a really fun afternoon.”

She said this year’s gift baskets include a spa basket, a basket with a Michael Kors handbag, a Mount Hope wine basket, and a Wolf Sanctuary of PA basket that includes tickets to visit the preserve and a copy of “Wolf Sanctuary: The Wolves of Speedwell Forge” by Chuck Rineer.

Other upcoming fundraisers include Curious George and the Man in the Yellow Hat Character Breakfast at Pleasant View Retirement Community on April 27; and the Spring Book Sale May 15 to 18 at the Manheim Farm Show Exhibition Center.
