Wounded Warrior walk is Saturday

By on May 11, 2016

For the fourth year, Lititz civic organizations, the Lititz recCenter, and the VFW Auxiliary to Lititz Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1463 will host The Lititz Walk for Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors to raise awareness and funds for Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Inc. (PAWW) whose mission is to help restore wounded warriors to good physical, mental and emotional health.

The walk is set for Saturday May 14. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and is $10 per person, $15 per family, or $5 for students and seniors. The registration fee in its entirety is donated to Pennsylvania’s wounded warriors.

Park your car at the Lititz recCenter, and then visit the registration table, or park in the Lititz Mutual Insurance Company lot and register at the registration table at Sturgis Lane. Walkers receive a map, a special pin that designates them as a walker, and information on Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors.

Penn Dutch Pacers has outlined several walking paths around Lititz, highlighting Lititz Springs Park and historic sites. This year, learn history and win prizes while walking through historic Lititz by participating in the PAWW Scavenger Hunt. Pick up a list at any registration table. Bring friends and pets; enjoy stopping in the various retailers along the way.

Registration tables will be open during the walk from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and walkers can begin at any time.

PAWW is not affiliated with the National Wounded Warriors Project; it serves only Pennsylvania veterans and their families and is entirely run by volunteers. Proceeds donated to the VFW Auxiliary to Lititz Springs Post 1463 go directly to PAWW. Donations help veterans and their families in medical emergencies or financial distress.

Lititz Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors has donated $23,000 from three previous walks. To learn more, visit pawoundedwarriors.org.

A registration form can be obtained online at lititzvfw.com or on Facebook at Lititz-Walk-For-Wounded-Warriors.
