Two days of flight and family at Lancaster Airport Community Days

By on August 21, 2019

Get ready for two days of flight and family fun as Lancaster Airport takes to the skies for Lancaster Airport Community Days 2019 Celebration of Flight.

All are welcome to this free and open-to-the-public event Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine. Parking is $10.

With an airshow each day at noon, Community Days gives, young and old alike, the opportunity to get up close and view aircraft, talk to pilots and learn more about the world of flying! This year’s event will feature the B-25 Yankee Warrior, Berlin Airlift Foundation, C-54, Spirit of Freedom and the Liberty War Bird Association UH-1 Huey rides. Also featured will be the UAF Heritage Flight (A-10 & P-51D Mustang) fly-over.

A variety of airplane & helicopter rides and military and civilian aircraft displays will round out the event. In addition, there will be community business, organization, and US Armed Forces displays. Food will be available for purchase as well as ticket sales for a children’s amusement area. Again this year is the Parade of Planes.

“We are very excited about our Parade in the Sky, says Lancaster Airport marketing and events coordinator, Kim Huber.

“Flight will be center stage both days as all types of aircraft will make their way to the sky,” said Huber.

Since 1996 Lancaster Airport has welcomed the County to Community Days to explore the world of aviation and learn more about their “hometown airport.” Today’s economic times can make it challenging for families to find activities which won’t break the bank, but Lancaster Airport Community Days is a budget-friendly weekend of fun, food and flying!
