Kids aged 7 to 12 can take part in a master class with singer/songwriter Steven Courtney during the Lancaster Roots & Blues Festival.

Courtney will be exploring call and response, field hollers, blues forms, and more, with a strong interactive element in Roots and Blues styles. His class is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27, from 1:45 to 2:20 p.m., in the library at the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St.

Other master classes include: Mark Ross (for kids ages 1 to 6); “From Blind Lemon Jefferson to Robert Johnson: The Blues on Acoustic Guitar,” featuring master blues guitarist Ari Eisinger; The Stray Birds; Morgan James; and “From Jazz to Funk to Pop,” featuring Derek Brown.

The master classes are open to all festival ticket holders. While most of the festival is open to those over 21, there is an under-21 deal on Saturday only. Chameleon Club will be open to all ages from 3 p.m to 6:15 p.m. featuring two shows.

The entire Saturday schedule is also open to those of all ages at The Ware Center and The Trust Performing Arts Center. Tickets for ages 13 to 20 are just $20 for these shows.
