Steven Courtney will perform at Rothsville Community Day

The 17th annual Rothsville Community Day will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, at Forney Field, Church Street, Rothsville.

The day will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with a 5K Fun Run/ Walk sponsored by WellSpan Family and Pediatric Medicine-Rothsville. Registration for the run begins at 9 a.m. at Forney Field. Proceeds from the $10 registration fee will benefit WellSpan’s Prescription for Caring program which provides assistance for people who cannot afford vital medications.

Free registration for all other events begins at 9:30 a.m. From 10 a.m to 1 p.m., children can enjoy face painting, spin art, a bounce castle, barrel train rides, games, and other activities. The popular helicopter candy drop, sponsored by the Rothsville Ambulance Association, will take place at 10:45 a.m. It is open to all children age 12 and under.

At 1 p.m. Steven Courtney will be performing his “Sharing Kindness and Love” show. His one-man show has been called “a positive and captivating experience for all ages. Going beyond entertainment, he weaves positive social behaviors, creativity and imagination into every show, delighting audiences with all original songs, witty humor and engaging stories.”

An egg toss, three-legged race, wheelbarrow race and pie eating contest are planned. There will be two age groups for each contest; &tstr; children and adult. Door prizes from local businesses will be drawn throughout the day.

In conjunction with this event, nearby Millport Conservancy, located at 737 E. Millport Road, will have its nature trails open to the public from dawn until dusk. The event is sponsored by area churches: Jerusalem Lutheran, Millport Mennonite, St. Paul’s E.C., and Sonrise Fellowship; in conjunction with the Northern Regional Police, the Rothsville Fire Company, the Rothsville Ambulance Association and support from many local businesses.
