By on February 24, 2016

Those who attend the United Zion Retirement Community Semi-Chocolate Stroll will definitely want to bring along a to-go container. The stroll features 17 local chocolatiers, eager to have the public sample their creations.

UZRC is hosting the event Feb. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the halls of the retirement community’s main building, located at 722 Furnace Hills Pike (Route 501).

The event is open to the public and a suggested minimum donation of $5 per person will be requested at the main entrance to enjoy the treats on the tour.

Offerings will be both savory and sweet chocolate confections by local area businesses including Stroopies, Achenbach’s Pastries, Evans Candy and Wilbur Chocolates as well as from the UZRC staff and dietary department.

The ladies of the Red Rose City Chorus are returning to entertain guests throughout the event.

A continued feature to the event will be a silent auction offering an array of items that currently include items from the York Revolution, Baltimore Ravens, Harrisburg Senators, Sight and Sound Theatres, Hands on House Children’s Museum, Rock Ford Plantation, National Christmas Center, Longwood Gardens, Stauffers of Kissel Hill, Brickerville House, Sturgis Pretzel House, AACA Museum, Pennsylvania Renaissance Fair, Burger King, Espenshades Greenhouse, Hershey Theatre, Baltimore Symphony, National Civil War Museum, Giant Food Stores, Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum, Lancaster Science Factory, Laserdome, Strasburg Railroad, Lititz Curves, Nissley Vineyards, Weis Markets Lititz, JoBoy’s Brew Pub and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

All proceeds received from the event will go to the UZRC Caring Fund, the community’s benevolent fund.
