Pretzel Fest a ‘Salt-Out’ Event

By on May 9, 2018

Lovers of pretzels, downtown retailers, volunteers, and musicians alike converged Saturday to create a day that was fun for families and folks of all ages at Lititz Kiwanis Club’s Pretzel Fest.
All tickets sold out before noon, with proceeds benefitting the Lititz recCenter summer playground program.

Cherry acres hosted Scooters Restaurant withe there chocolate covered pretzel with a salted caramel drizzle, prepared by Chef Tim Whitmyer during the Lititz Pretzel Festival in Lititz, PA on May 5, 2018.

The competition was stiff among the “pretzelatiers’ this year. Appalachian Brewing Company had a killer entry with their pretzel crusted smashed potatoes served with a rock shrimp salsa. Greco’s ice cream, who was last year’s winner, proved to be very popular again this year with their new creation, chocolate covered pretzel ice cream. However, the trophy for the 2018 best tasting treat went to Scooter’s for their inside out chocolate-covered pretzel.

“It was a lovely day in all respects lots of smiles said event organizer Karen Davis. “We wish we didn’t have to turn people away, but we do need to let the pretzelatiers know how many treats to prepare,” she added.

Her advice for next year? Buy your tickets early! Kiwanis members may even offer an incentive for attendees who purchase their tickets early, according to Davis.
