Lititz Historical Foundation to stage 56th annual antiques show

By on June 6, 2018

The sweet smell of tradition wafts over Lititz as the Lititz Historical Foundation prepares for its 56th annual antiques show.

This perennial favorite will open its doors June 29 and 30 at Warwick Middle School, 104 Maple St. Established in 1962, the event remains an annual fundraiser for the Johannes Mueller House (1792), the residence to an early Moravian colonist and closed community member, whose communal duties included tanning and textile dying.

Promoted as an “old time country show of primarily primitives,” a gathering of nearly 50 dealers will present a wide range of interesting, reasonably priced country wares and dry goods. Shoppers can expect to find farm items, stoneware, kitchen goods, textiles, early lighting, transfer ware, doll items, coin silver, holiday items, many smalls, PA folk art, and many offerings including Pennsylvania country furniture with original painted surfaces, just to name a few.

The historical foundation’s antiques show is a long-established event which attracts dealers and shoppers from across the northeast as well as the Atlantic seaboard, Midwest and South. Dealers come from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Ohio, South Carolina, as well as Alabama. Dealers and shoppers alike are remarkably show loyal, year after year, decade after decade.

Hungry shoppers will have the opportunity to purchase a variety of freshly prepared foods, including vegetarian choices, and homemade baked goods prepared by expert, well-seasoned bakers from the foundation baker’s group. Many home- baked selections come from recipes passed through the family. These uncommonly delightful treats should not to be missed.

Show dates and hours are June 29, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and June 30, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $9; or $8 with hard card, clipped ad, or e-card. Children enter free.
