The Districts open for Dr. Dog, release new EP

Every time we turn our heads, it seems like Lititz-born band The Districts make another stride in the music industry and are one step closer to making it big.

The Warwick graduates, who currently reside in Philadelphia, recently signed with Fat Possum Records, who released the band’s anticipated self-titled EP Jan. 28.

It’s three old songs and two new,” says Braden Lawrence, who is the band’s drummer. “It’s our first release on Fat Possum and we’re pumped to have it on vinyl!”

Featured on the EP are “Lyla,” “Funeral Beds” and “Long Distance” and two new songs “Rocking Chair” and “Stay Open.”

On Jan. 31, the boys shared the stage with Dr. Dog at a well-received, high-energy show at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. The band also just wrapped up a successful month as the Artist to Watch on XPN.

“Getting played on XPN and opening for Dr. Dog were goals of ours for the past few years. It’s amazing that both have happened,” said Lawrence. “They’ve both helped us out a lot and we’re really grateful.”
